Position: Wine Maker

Job Summary:
The Wine Maker is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the wine production process, from grape harvesting to bottling. This role requires a deep understanding of viticulture, fermentation, and oenology principles to create high-quality wines. The Wine Maker will collaborate closely with the Vineyard Manager, Winery Director, and other team members to ensure the production of exceptional wines that align with the company's vision and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the wine production process from grape harvesting to bottling, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to established standards.
2. Plan and coordinate grape harvesting, including determining the optimal time for harvesting based on grape maturity and weather conditions.
3. Oversee vineyard operations, including monitoring vine health, pest management, irrigation, and canopy management.
4. Supervise the fermentation process, including yeast selection, temperature control, and monitoring of sugar levels, acidity, and other key parameters.
5. Manage all aspects of wine aging and maturation, including barrel selection, cellar management, and monitoring of wine quality during the aging process.
6. Conduct regular wine tastings and sensory evaluations to assess quality, identify potential issues, and make necessary adjustments in production techniques.
7. Collaborate with the Winery Director and marketing team to develop new wine products and refine existing ones to meet market demands.
8. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations related to wine production, safety, and environmental standards.
9. Develop and maintain accurate records of production activities, including grape yields, fermentation logs, laboratory analyses, and other relevant data.
10. Train and supervise cellar and production staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operations and adherence to quality standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Viticulture, Oenology, or related field.
2. Proven experience as a Wine Maker or Assistant Wine Maker within a reputable winery.
3. In-depth knowledge of viticulture practices, grape varieties, and vineyard management techniques.
4. Strong understanding of wine production processes, including fermentation, aging, blending, and bottling.
5. Proficient in conducting sensory evaluations and wine quality assessments.
6. Familiarity with laboratory equipment and analysis related to wine production.
7. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet production deadlines.
